Venchie Children Write Letter to Nicola Sturgeon
Children from the Venchie Children & Young Peoples Project have written a letter to the First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, inviting her to visit the Venchie and see the wonderful work they’re doing!
A young person who had attended the Venchie years ago is now studying to become a social worker, and had attended an event Nicola Sturgeon was hosting and news travelled back to Susan. The idea to write her a letter sparked, but Susan thought it would be best coming from the children. Paige Stoddart and Ellie Wilson came up with a great letter to Nicola Sturgeon and told her all about the Venchie. They even got some of the other children’s opinions too!
All the comments were positive because truthfully the kids do enjoy going to the Venchie. It’s a safe, fun and enjoyable environment that children feel comfortable attending, and with the threat of closure it would help raise the profile and show the First Minister how vital the Venchie is to the local community. The Children are really looking forward to hearing back from the First Minister, and hopefully with their positive comments included in the letter they will have a chance to have her visit their club.
Here are some of the children’s thoughts on the Venchie and why they enjoy it:
Lyla – “It’s fun and the best place I’ve ever been.”
Jacob – “We get to play and do healthy activities.”
Ellie – “I love to play on the swings.”
Paige – “I can climb trees and the flying fox.”
Fingers crossed the Venchie receive a reply!
